Job Summary:
We are seeking a high-level, experienced Technical Manager / Senior Technician to join our Gauteng branch. This role is ideal for someone who is strong technically, confident in project planning, and able to support and develop a national service team.
This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership & Support
- Provide high-level technical support for UPS, inverter, battery, and electrical backup systems.
- Assist the service team with complex fault-finding, commissioning, and on-site diagnostics.
- Offer remote support and guidance to technicians when issues arise at client sites.
Project & Scope Planning
- Work closely with sales teams to validate technical requirements and ensure correct equipment specification.
- Conduct site inspections and prepare technical input for tenders and major quotations.
- Ensure projects follow Cooper Power’s installation standards and quality procedures.
Training & Development
- Train and mentor junior and intermediate technicians.
- Ensure service staff understand correct installation practices, safety procedures, and company specifications.
- Contribute to building a high-performance technical culture within the branch.
Quality Assurance
- Conduct installation audits and ensure all work meets Cooper Power’s standards.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant electrical standards and client requirements.
Field Work & Client Interaction
- Attend key client sites when specialist support is required.
- Assist with commissioning, planned maintenance, and problem resolution.
- Provide professional communication and maintain strong customer relationships.
Job Requirements:
- Strong technical background in UPS, inverter, battery, or electrical systems.
- Minimum 4–6 years hands-on industry experience.
- Experience mentoring or leading technicians is highly advantageous.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel for project and support work.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Fluent in English; Afrikaans beneficial.
